Vale Bruce Moir
Melbourne University Cricket Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former MUCCer and Victorian representative, Bruce Moir.
Moir, who represented University across two stints during the 1980’s, played a total of 71 matches as a Student, along with a further fifteen games for Richmond in Victorian Premier Cricket.

A powerful left-hander, Moir commanded the crease at the Uni Main, as he compiled more than 2,000 runs at a tick under 30. With three centuries as a MUCCer, Moir’s most successful season in 1983/84 was rewarded with the club’s First XI batting award, and a Victorian cap.
As state representative number 705, Moir played three matches in 1983/84, making 26 runs and also snaring a catch.
Moir was also deeply committed to his studies alongside his cricket, rewarded with a Bachelor of Commerce (Major in Economics), and pursued a long and successful career in financial markets.
Popular, respected and a constant feature at all club functions, Moir – affectionately known as “Doris” – was a special Melbourne University Cricket Club person, and will be sorely missed.
The club offers their deepest condolences to Bruce’s wife, family and former teammates across the cricketing community at this time.
The Moir family has asked for privacy during this difficult period and expressed its appreciation for the love and support at this time.
Vale.
