As the seasons change, practice wickets are being rolled at The Uni Main and the cricket season is drawing ever closer.

A month out from Round 1, the Students have been busily preparing for the last six weeks, with skills, fitness and fielding all front of mind in a jam-packed pre-season. On the Men's side of the program, groups have been building through structured 'fundamentals' 'exploration' and 'competition' phases. Designed to prepare the playing group to be primed for practice matches later in September and the Home and Away season thereafter, new and returning players alike have been enjoying sessions at both the MCG and Junction Oval.

Additionally, the club has welcomed the return of Life Member, Mark Simpson, who has been running fielding sessions on Saturday mornings. Nicknamed the Raging Bull in his playing days, Simmo patrolled the covers with a passion, and his expertise has been warmly received - even in chilly winter conditions!
Preseason training for the women’s teams was off to a great start, with the women getting to train at the MCG and Citipower Centre indoor nets. This gave both new and returning players the chance to get back into batting and bowling in high class facilities with Hayden as the coach. With many of the girls developing their skills over the winter break, it will be an exciting few more Sunday sessions at Citipower before the season begins.
